Hi @Auricaargent

Have you checked to see if there are any issues here Service Status Checker | Check Network Problems in Your Area | EE?

You can also report a problem to get it looked into if needed.

Lesley

It's not a network problem. We used to have very good 5G service in our area Locksbottom BR68... Now when I check on the EE coverage page it says there is no 5G. Well there used to be for many years so it's been disabled.

@Auricaargent  Not necessarily you could have just been picking up a 5G connection because of how the mast was setup,  if any work has been performed on the mast it now might mean it’s been fine tuned to give a better signal in the area it should of been covering.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Not so. I checked when I went to EE for the 5G coverage in my area and there was good coverage this went on for some years but quite recently I only get 4G and EEs own coverage check days there is no 5G

Sites, and individual sectors, are only locked when there is a valid reason for doing so. No operator has anything to gain by deliberately locking sites from carrying traffic "for the fun of it"

Part of the strength of EE's 5G network is the underlying 4G service.

4G is fine but 5G has been turned off. It's not my phone either because that gets a 5G signal when I'm away from home. When EE decides to check they might find out what's wrong but that would mean admitting I'm right.

My posts are based on professional experience - I'm curious what you think EE would have to gain by intentionally locking users from gaining access to otherwise working service? Networks do run reporting on sites & sectors that are locked without good reason.

The engineering-level detail of works undertaken, will not always be available to frontline CS staff. Optimisation-led changes to the radio interface will also go beyond simple "4G" or "5G" and will involve specific frequency bands & carriers - frontline CS staff are not expected to understand this.

I've nothing to gain either way, and I'm "only" a 4G customer. Just curious why you're so convinced this coverage change is a deliberate &/or intentional act.

I've not tried o analyse why I no longer have 5G, that's just a fact. I've checked again on the EE coverage page and it says that 5G isn't available in my postcode. And I know that I used to get a very good 5G signal both indoors and outdoors. So if you believe me that I used to get 5G then surely you must also agree that it's been removed.

4G & 5G services are delivered across numerous frequency bands, there isn't a single "4G signal" or "5G signal".

I don't know the specifics of your area or serving site, but one logical explanation is that there has been an alteration to the config of your serving site/sector, resulting in a difference to the coverage footprint or overall performance.

These changes are always made to improve the overall experience, but do not mean that a particular "G" has been removed or locked down. I can understand why some end-users may think this, but with some understanding of both the radio interface & network operation, it would be highly unusual for perfectly working coverage to be arbitrarily disabled.

As mentioned above numerous times, what would EE have to gain by removing coverage without valid reason?
