Hello, we’ve just moved house, and, the new house has very poor mobile signal. We’ve both got IPhones, one 13 and one 14 Pro and they’ve both got WiFi calling enabled., both show “EE WiFicall” when swiping down from the top right, but when making or receiving a call, the quality’s very poor, like WiFi calling isn’t working.
We have reasonable broadband from BT, 70Mbps down and 12Mbps up, with Deco x90 WiFi and a bunch of deco M5 satellites, with speed tests reporting good throughput and latency in various locations around the house.
Turning airplane mode on / off sometimes helps. It’s like the phone thinks the mobile signal is good enough, but it’s really not (one bar). Is there a way to improve this experience or better, could EE upgrade the mast 😉

The coverage checker reports that we’d get good outdoor coverage and mixed indoor coverage, which isn’t true, it doesn’t matter where I stand…
if I look on the coverage mail, all the nearby villages have poor signal and the farmers fields have strong signal…

Hi @Fatbob78
Thanks for coming here 🙂
Have you checked the status of your postcode on our coverage checker? If you select 'check status' this will let you know if we're aware of any problems in your area.
If nothing is showing you can report the problems you are having to get this looked into.
Leanne 🙂

Hi @Fatbob78
Iphone wifi calling is poor becase any whiff of a mobile signal and it tries to transfer over which in my experience fails. You are better off connecting directly to the router as well rather than via a network .
As @Leanne_T says have you checked for mast issues locally.
Thanks

Try staying in airplane mode and turning wifi back on. Make a call, what's the quality like?

Connecting directly to the router or via the mesh network makes no difference to the quality

I will do, as I can confirm, if I turn off cellular (eg airplane mode / Wi-Fi on) that Wi-Fi calling works fine
