WiFi calling not working well

Hello, we’ve just moved house, and, the new house has very poor mobile signal.  We’ve both got IPhones, one 13 and one 14 Pro and they’ve both got WiFi calling enabled., both show “EE WiFicall” when swiping down from the top right, but when making or receiving a call, the quality’s very poor, like WiFi calling isn’t working.

We have reasonable broadband from BT, 70Mbps down and 12Mbps up, with Deco x90 WiFi and a bunch of deco M5 satellites, with speed tests reporting good throughput and latency in various locations around the house.

Turning airplane mode on / off sometimes helps.  It’s like the phone thinks the mobile signal is good enough, but it’s really not (one bar).  Is there a way to improve this experience or better, could EE upgrade the mast 😉

Some Android phones have the option of setting "mobile preferred" or "WiFi-preferred" when both carriers are available and deemed usable. Apple phones don't have this option and so enabling flight-mode, then WiFi-manually - is a workaround to achieve the same result.

The coverage checker has a certain level of granularity to provide a broadly accurate prediction, but there are T&Cs that provide for it not being guaranteed. It also provides two functions - "check coverage" is what you've used, but "check status" allows for monitoring & reporting of local outages.

Thanks all, I’ve tested the airplane mode fix, this works, but otherwise WiFi calling doesn’t work and signal level is poor.  I did report a problem via the status checker, and something was changed, but no solution here, but 10 out of 10 for bias for action.
