URGENT new mast site found for HU16

EE removed a mast in Cottingham, East Yorkshire in December, since the landowner no longer wanted a mast on their property.

This has left many EE customers with no signal whatsoever and I presume that EE are in need of a new site.

As the local Ward Councillor, I approached the Council to see if we can offer an alternative site.

The Council do have a nearby site available and would like to discuss this with EE. Can someone please contact me and I will pass on the contact details.

I can't comment on the smart meter infrastructure in your specific locality, but as far as mobile coverage goes...

https://newplanningaccess.eastriding.gov.uk/newplanningaccess/files/A2D8F3CE0FA80E1D11360098E2685209...  is the relevant part.

The detailed designs would normally include antenna schematics & frequency info, but this document confirms 2G, 4G & 5G services are being installed for both 3UK & EE from this site. Guesses on the frequency bands in use would be speculative.

A new mobile mast was recently erected on Green Lane, Cottingham, but there is no indication when this will be switched on.

Many mobile users in the area currently have no signal, so they are anxious for news.

Hi there @CllrPhil

Thanks for coming back to us.

Our coverage checker will show coverage and signal strength for the postcode. This will also be updated with any changes to coverage in the area.

Leanne.

Dear Leanne,

Thank you for getting back to me, but this doesn’t answer my question which is;

When is this new phone mast likely to be activated?

The residents in the area have absolutely no coverage at the moment. Not even enough to receive a text message.

Thank you.

Phil Redshaw, Ward Councillor

Sorry to say, but the honest answer here is that it could be days, weeks or months.

My recollection is this is a street-furniture monopole site, this may be mistaken. If so, the pole will likely land with the antennas pre-rigged. Other dependencies include, but are not limited to... power-connection, backhaul comms connection & integration to the network. The first 2 can be potentially monitored using the roadworks.org/one.network site.

CS won't be party to any dates, these will be strictly within the relevant project teams and only usually communicated out once go-live is achieved.
