Speed drop in TW18

Hello. On Friday, the speed of my connection dropped from around an average of 100-200mbts which was brilliant for 4G. Now, it's barely making 20mbts. I've made a report in the app but everything came back clear. Standing right near one of the masts with line of site doesn't improve anything and it's still slow.

When on the phone there's around 1.3mbts over 4g which is just appalling. This is whilst using VOLTE

Any advice? My guess is there's been a change to the network

VoLTE means "Voice over LTE"  - so is for voice calls rather than data.

Are you able to identify the frequency bands, and/or specific carrier-IDs (EARFCN) that you were using when speeds were better, and compare them with those in use now? A pre/post analysis would potentially identify the cause of these issues.

By means of background - 4G is delivered over 4 different frequency bands with numerous sub-divides of carriers within those bands. At a guess, there may be an issue with one or more carriers thus the remaining capacity is having to carry increased traffic.

If not, the most you can do is report those speeds via the status checker in the first instance, and latterly via CS.

Its Band 3 which is exactly the same. Same site too. I'm still on hold so I'll retest when I'm off call as by all means it could be a network issue now.

I've done the status checker on Friday but that came back clear.

B3 is the base 4G layer and allows for numerous carrier-combinations, both single & dual-carrier. Multiple sites around Staines also have B1 & B7, depending on your exact location.

It's the EARFCN that makes the other part of the jigsaw.

Unfortunately, I'm on the new IOS so I can't see any useful info now 😞

Does keep flicking between bands 3 and 7, neither of which are making any progress. B3 at 20MHz and my phone doesn't stay on B7 long enough to get bandwidth but I can probably figure it out from cellmapper
