Both myself and my mom are on EE but in different areas of the midlands. I know from visiting that EE has poor signal inside my mom's home and the signal checker on the EE site confirms this for her area (good outside and weak to no coverage inside).
When I call my mom, the call starts out fine but after 10 minutes or so it suddenly starts breaking up. If we end the call and start again it will be fine for a few minutes before breaking up again.
She does not move around during the call. Her phone is a few years old and is using the network and not WiFi calling. This happens whenever anyone calls her on any network.
Next time I visit I will see if I can turn on WiFi calling and see if that helps, but I was wondering what would cause the signal to get worse when the calls start out fine. Any ideas?

The radio network & phone are continually seeking the best radio conditions both during idle & calls. There is nothing network-side that would cause radio conditions to degrade during calls, my instinct is that this could be device-related.
Next time you visit your Mum, try testing your phone on a similar-length call to see if the same problem occurs. I suspect it won't, but the proof will be in the pudding, so to speak.
