I got a text saying welcome to the Isle of Man and the cost of Roaming  charges

but I was only in the Lake District how do I amend this as the phone line is mainly automated and it’s hard to speak to someone

Welcome to the community.

Did you notice your actual mobile network change from EE to a Jersey network? Can you see any extra charges in your EE account.

I suspect you have probably received this message in error, based on the Geography.

The roaming partner network on Isle of Man and Channel Islands is Sure Mobile. It uses the same network code in both locations (23455) so the UK network may not be able to tell which island you receiving the signal from, just that you are connected to a network that serves Jersey, Guernsey and the IoM. 

It's not uncommon to receive signals from the Isle of Man in the lake district especially on higher ground, the same happens on the coastal hills of North Wales.

I suspect that Sure would differentiate based on TAC routing, but nonetheless it's a valid observation.
