Really awful signal for a long time

Mulvihill1

I’m based in Co Antrim, NI.

I've been with ee 15 years and over the past few years, I’ve had awful bother with signal and phone service.

Everyday I get texts messages from ee about issues in my area and nothing ever improves. Issues affect both 4G and calls.

Whenever I make calls (both Wi-Fi calling and regular), the phone call cuts out, or the recipient of my call hears me in really slow motion.

For signal, im constantly seeing “no service” flickering in the top of my screen. I know this isn’t the phone as I’ve tried using my sim on another iPhone and same issues persist. This has been particularly annoying as I usually use scan and go on my phone when shopping and it’s not scanning things properly!

is this just me or do others experience this?
I tried calling ee about this a year ago but they weren’t really my help, but the issue has gotten worse and I can’t call ee as I’m worried that my call will fail (as all mine do) and it’s a waste of time.

Hi @Mulvihill1

Welcome to the Community!

We know how important it is for you to be able to stay connected, so I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having with your connection, and I can understand how frustrating it must be that this has been the case for so long.

I'd recommend getting back in touch with our Technical experts, and they can find out why this is happening, and discuss your options moving forward.

If you'd prefer not to give us a call, then you can connect using our live chat serivce in the EE app.

WiFi-calling is fundamentally a reliable service capable of rock-solid calls - I suspect you're in on the edge of good coverage, and your phone is either not using WiFi, or is handing between it & the mobile network.

If you're using Android, then some recent phones have an option to alter WiFi-calling between "WiFi-preferred" & "mobile-preferred" which may assist.

Otherwise, try enabling flight-mode (to disable mobile coverage) and enable WiFi-manually - this should force all calls & texts over WiFi which may improve reliability.

Coverage in Toome itself comes from 2 sites outside the town, hence the poor indoor coverage predicted there.
