Poor internet and mobile signal in Bristol

Intermittent internet connection keeps fluctuating to “E”, not able to send even a single WhatsApp message. Further there is only single bar signal strength. So frustrated. If problem persists might change to better service provider.

There's nothing inherently wrong with "only single bar", that shouldn't directly cause any issues. Of more concern is the "E" indicator - your phone is using 2G which is unusable for mobile data.

If you toggle flight mode, do you get 4G coverage back? And does this always happen in a broadly similar location? Or is it a more general issue?

I can definitely confirm there's something wrong with the mobile data in Bristol, has been for a while it seems. I'm seeing the 4G logo on my device, but can't refresh emails most of the time and data-based messenger is sporadic too. I've checked the service status: "Network problems in your area". I signed up for updates a few days ago, but all I'm getting is "it's taking longer than expected, with no details at all.

Bristol is a large city, can you be more specific about a location?

In my case, BS3. But it doesn't behave any better when I go into the centre, BS1

I agree with EE coverage issues in Bs3. Centre[ish] of a large city, with dead zones.

Where in BS3 do you experience a complete loss of coverage?

It's just terrible in bristol in general now. It used to be super fast and great reception before 5G now it's slow with many deadzones too many to list. Even at my house I have to use WiFi due to terrible signal, this was never the case pre 5G.

My sister lives in Bristol and says the exact opposite! Since they turned 3G off, she knows several people on Vodafone who are on 2G more than ever - and data never works anymore. A few friends who use dual-SIM VF & EE have said similar.

She's tested EE & O2, and is now moving to EE.
