Poor Mobile Data & Signals in London E2 Region & Elsewhere

Hak012

Recently moved to EE and the 4G/5G coverage is extremely poor. In E2 where I live, the 4G is constantly turning on/off.  I get the four full bars but get E next to it which I presume suggests emergency.

Even when travelling to work to either Illford or Shoreditch, the connection is poor. To be honest, wherever I go, there's a connection issue. This seems to be an EE issue and has gotten consistently worse over the past week.

What's going on EE? Aren't you suppose to be one of the UK's leading networks? Disappointed.

E is an on-screen indication for 2G, which means you're not using 4G or 5G. Voice calls should be perfectly usable albeit not in HD/HD+ audio, but mobile data will be bare basics at absolute best.

If you toggle flight mode on your phone, does 4G coverage resume?

Hello @Hak012 ,

Welcome to the community,

Have you tried turning your phone off and on again to see if that makes a difference?

Have you tried a network reset?

You can also check here to register, report and receive updates:

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Now it's changed back to 4G by itself but I'm always having a network issue every time I go outside. Everyday over the past two weeks, I'm having some form of connection issue every time I go outside.

Whether I turn on/turn off airplane mode or insert/reinsert sim card, its just the same.

Hi @Hak012

Thanks for letting us know.

Have you been able to report this using the link provided by @Schockwave?

Might be worth asking what sort of phone are you using and where did you get it?

The E(GSM) icon is very rare to see in my experience - however my phone did appear to be stuck in it the other day in a strong coverage area- but waiting a few mins (same area) and it settled back to normal 4G / 5G etc.

Do other people that you know using EE experience the same problems? This can help you decide if its a phone or a network issue- but this info may not be available to you.

I go to and from Liverpool St & Fenchurch St and out to East London / surrounds a lot, and TBH my data connection is usually fairly stable and good with a Samsung s23 and A55 (NSA both), but I don't know the general route you might take of course.

Given BT is based just east of Aldgate East- not that far from Shoreditch or the approaches- if there was a general problem I'd imagine commuting staff might be experiencing it and possibly report it!
