Hi
I live in a rural area and have a EE signal box. On 30th June this will no longer work and EE have suggested I use Wi-Fi Calling. Unfortunately Wi-Fi calling isn't working and I can't make a call or receive incoming calls. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?
Thanks Sophie

WiFi-calling is only as reliable as the router & broadband connection that it's using, but on a reliable wireless network it's a very reliable service and not at all "hit & miss".
All you need to do to use WiFi-calling is to simply enable the option in your phone menu. The method described is a workaround that can be useful in particular circumstances, but by no means standard.

My phone sits 4ft away from my router, with a strong signal strength. The WiFi signal bar is at max. I often notice the 'VoWiFi' icon disappears from my phone screen, and for me, the above procedure reliably gets it back for me...

We purchased from a boat website. If I’m honest it gives us between 1-2 bar so not the best but something. Relying on our landline and thinking of switching to 02 when our contract runs out next year. Hope that helps

For many, a proper 'generic signal booster' is simply too expensive, especially if you need to get it properly installed, with an internal/external aerial and all the paraphernalia that goes with it. Surprised too that it only gives you 1-2 bars, I thought they would give more. You must live in a very odd area LOL

Yep it’s very rural and yes had the cost of a handyman to fit outside and inside. It’s better than no signal at all. Wi-Fi calling wouldn’t let us ring out or receive calls at all.

What happened when you enabled WiFi-calling in your phone's menu - did you get any onscreen indicator that the service was active?
Troubleshooting this would be much better in a separate thread than adding to this one, but it doesn't sound like you're using WiFi-calling for some reason.

I also live in a rural area and the booster box was great but now I am struggling to receive and make calls. WIFI calling just works when it feels like it, by no means a seamless connection.
I have a good broadband speed but do have a old house with thick walls, would it help to have a wifi booster or repeater? Although I can be standing next to my router and the phone often doesn't connect for ages.
I've tried the EE help desk but apart from changing some settings in my phone basically they have said there is nothing more they can do 😞 any suggestions please

Hi @Rocket71,
Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂
Does your phone show a mobile signal when it isn't connecting to WiFi Calling? Some phone's will only use WiFi Calling when there isn't a mobile connection available.
