Update: 19 March 2024

Over the past few months, our engineers have been continuing negotiations with the site provider to arrange a date to access the area and start building the equipment needed for the new mast at the first location. Once we have agreed a date with the site provider, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

For the second location (as a back-up in case of any unforeseen problems with the first area), the submitted designs have been approved and we have started legal steps to legally acquire the land from the landowner and start building the equipment needed for the new mast. Once the build is completed, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

In case of any unforeseen complications with either of the two areas, we have located a third area as a back-up. Our engineers have completed required designs at the location following the structural surveys, and these have been submitted to the site provider for approval. Pending a positive outcome from the designs, we can start building the equipment needed and confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

We will keep you updated on this post.

Update: 17 November 2023

Over the past few months, our engineers have conducted power tests at the first location and found the power supply designs would need to be amended for the mast to be installed. These power supply designs have now been completed and approved by the site provider. We are working with the site provider to arrange a date to access the area and start building the equipment needed and confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

For the second location (as a back-up in case of any unforeseen problems with the first area) our engineers have completed the requested surveys and are completing final site designs. Once the site designs have been completed, these will be submitted for approval to the landowner. Pending a positive outcome from the site designs, our engineers can start legal steps to legally acquire the land from the landowner and start building the equipment needed for the new mast. Once the build is completed, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

Update: 12 August 2023

Over the past few months, our engineers have completed the further surveys requested at the first location and submitted these for approval. Pending a positive outcome from the surveys, we can start building the equipment needed and confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

For the second location (as a back-up in case of any unforeseen problems with the first area) our engineers have submitted revised designs to build the equipment without the use of the crane and these are waiting for final approval. Pending a positive outcome from the revised designs, our engineers can start legal steps to legally acquire the land from the landowner and start building the equipment needed for the new mast. Once the build is completed, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

In case of any unforeseen complications with either of the two areas, we have located a third area as a back-up. Update: 17 May 2023

Over the past few months, our engineers have had legal approval to access the area and complete surveys for the new mast and these have been completed at the first location. As part of the legal negotiations, we have started the next step to legally acquire the land from the landowner and start building the equipment. We expect all legal steps to be completed by the end of June. Pending a positive outcome for the build to start, we can confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

For the second location (as a back-up in case of any unforeseen problems with the first area) our engineers have accessed the area to complete the structural surveys, we have found to build the equipment at the area we will be unable to access with a crane, we are revising the designs to build the equipment without the use of the crane. Once all designs have been completed, we can start legal steps to legally acquire the land from the landowner. Once the legal steps have been completed, we can start building the equipment needed for the new mast.

In case of any unforeseen complications with the two areas, and to restore service to the area as soon as possible, we have located a third area as a back-up, our engineers have had legal approval to access the area and complete structural surveys for the new mast. Pending a positive outcome from the surveys, we can start building the equipment needed and confirm an approximate on-air date for the new mast.

Update: 16 March 2023

Our engineers are waiting for a date for the legal hearing for the first location, which we expect to have by the end of April. Once the legal steps have been completed, we can start building the equipment needed for the new mast.

For the second location (as a back-up in case of any unforeseen problems with the first area) the landowner has refused our request for the structural drawings that we require as part of the planning application. We have started legal negotiations to acquire the land from the landowner. We expect to have a date for the legal hearing to take place by the middle of May. Once the legal steps have been completed, we can start building the equipment needed for the new mast.

Update: 26 July 2022

Our engineers have found two possible new locations for the new mast to be installed. We will only need to build one mast at one of the two locations, but we are undertaking all the required work on both locations in case any unforeseen problem with either occurs, giving us a plan b ready to go.

We have submitted final designs for the first location and are currently awaiting a hearing date to legally acquire the land from the provider. Pending a positive outcome from the legal steps, we will start building the equipment needed for the new mast.

For the second location, our engineers have submitted designs for approval and are currently awaiting an outcome. Pending a positive decision, we can start legal steps to acquire the land from the site provider and start building the equipment needed for the new mast, should this second location be needed.

We’re aware of a signal issue that is affecting some of our customers in the Isle of Dogs.

Our mast in the area had to be removed from the existing site in June 2022 due to the area being redeveloped. As soon as we were made aware our equipment would need to be relocated, our engineers began looking for a new location for the mast. We have located two new locations for the mast to be installed, in case of any complications at either site.

Our engineers have completed designs at the first location, and the designs have passed health and safety checks to make sure the area will be suitable for the equipment. We are currently progressing with legal steps to acquire the land from the site provider. Pending a positive outcome from the legal hearing, we will start building the equipment needed for the new mast and confirm an approximate on-air date.

For the second location, our engineers have visited the area and completed designs, these have been submitted for approval. Pending a positive outcome from the designs, we will start legal proceedings to acquire the land from the site provider and start building the equipment needed for the new mast.

Hi Leanne_T,

Can you please provide an update? The main post has said the same thing for awhile now. When will the new mast be installed? This is affecting calls and calls are dropping out or not going through at all. How long will it take to build the mast and what will the start date be for these works?

Thanks

I live in E14 and have suffered from years of under investment by BT/EE in the network infrastructure here, whilst so many new 50 storey flats were built, some networks didn't keep up, signals were blocked, capacity was at saturation point, etc. so hopefully we'll see some improvements when EE replaces their masts.

I have a new Vodafone mast being put on the building next to me, so I'm keeping an eye on the planning permission, it's not a quick process though. Can't seem to find the EE application so hard to know what's going on. Hopefully @Leanne_T will be able to update the post when there's some news.

Hello,

Have the legal proceedings been completed yet? No signal indoors what so ever. This has been going on way too long.

Thanks for the updates @Leanne_T

Frustrating to be paying for an even poorer service here than normal, but hopefully we'll see some progress soon.
