I have a business account with a £2 EU built in add-on. Does this cover USA and does it kick in automatically when roaming required.

The USA is not in the EU, so no.
You should ensure roaming is activated before leaving the UK, by texting ROAMING to 150.
Charges for roaming in the USA are set out at https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/roaming-costs/countries/usa - or purchasing the Roam Abroad pass for £10/month allows you to use your UK allowances in the USA.
