Hotspot not working with ps portal

My WiFi and friends hotspots (02 and giffgaff) work fine with the portal and we all have iPhones. On another forum somebody suggested downloading an ee APN IPV4 from GitHub which I did. It now lets me connect my hotspot but I now get an error when trying to connect to my ps5 with the portal (sorry, but something went wrong)

I turned maximise capability to off then restarted my phone and then tried to hotlist my portal and it still wouldn’t appear as a connection on my portal

I tried the GitHub download a while back allowed the portal to hotspot but I get the same message something went wrong, don’t have any issues with the wife’s phone connecting on 02 with the  same model phone,  maybe time to look at moving network

Yeah maybe, it’s a shame. The whole reason I bought a portal was to play it away from home and my hotspot doesn’t work with it. 😅

@Bradyoung Does your Portal detect the WIFI hotspot at all? Or is it that it wont connect/work with it?

Ali

It connects to the hotspot but then won’t connect to the ps5, as I said earlier though I can use my wife’s hotspot without this issue she has the same phone but on 02, so can only put it down to network issue

@Bradyoung  Have you tried setting up port forwarding?

There are several YouTube videos explaining how to set this up if you search "PlayStation Portal Port Forwarding PS5" or something similar.

May also be worth try setting your hotspot to use IPV4 rather than IPV6?

Ali

I’ve tried ipv4 it doesn’t work and the portal works with everything else bar my iPhone hotspot on EE which was why I bought it to be able to use on my down time while working away from home

@Bradyoung It may be worth setting up port-forwarding to see if that helps the connection link through.

Ali

After looking at port forwarding it would be easier to just switch network unfortunately

The reason you may be having issues is that the EE network and some other carriers use NAT 3 the most restrictive type. This can prevent certain features when playing games online, like the ability for the application to open certain required ports to enable remote connections.
