Gifting and Roaming abroad.

 Hi,

I have a 100GB and 1 smart addon for roaming, I'm going away on the 7th and my data reset on the 9th.
I think my phone will be fine and the data will just tick over.

However, My kids are with me and they do not have roaming so plan to buy the £10 a month roaming add-on for them to use their data.
Their data is gifted from me so my question is when in Spain,

So the question is can I gift data to the kids as usual on the 9th when the month rests once I'm abroad? Can that data be used by the 1-month addon for roaming I will add to each of their accounts?

I'm presuming the data add-on you are referring to is the Roam Abroad Pass for using your UK allowances in the EU.

  1. You may continue gifting data to the others after your allowances refresh on the 9th as long as you have the Roam Abroad Pass.
  2. Your kids may continue to use data gifted by you after their allowances refresh on the 9th as long as they have the Roam Abroad Pass.

If your billing cycle refreshes while your way you will not be able to gift data until you come back to the UK.

I don't believe to be the case in this case, from How do I gift my data and set controls? :

Did your allowance refresh and you happen to be outside of the UK or anywhere your plan allows inclusive roaming?

You will not be prevented from gifting data when travelling, unless your allowance refreshes while you’re away. In this case you will have to wait until you return to the UK to be able to gift again.

By having the Roam Abroad Pass you are somewhere your plan allows inclusive roaming (as would the £2/day EU add-on).

  1. It matters where on earth your SIM is, not where your PC is even if you could get to it remotely.
  2. Your billing date doesn't change when you upgrade your plan. It's just a plan change.

Thanks so aslong as the kids all have the £10 add on for using your allowance abroad before we leave I can continue to send them it and they can use it.

I have the roaming smart benefit.

Thanks.

How certain are you with your answers??

There seems to be a bit of contradiction between you and Chris.

@Chris_B withdrew his reply presumably in the light of mine. That's for him to say. I believe I have justified mine by reference to an official EE article on the matter.

Understood thanks I will be spending a bit of money on the monthly roaming addon so want to be sure the info I get is accurate.

Thanks
