I have an EE sim in a 4G operated  remoteweather station.

I recently topped up the sim but for some reason the data is not working, however i still receive text messages from it.

I normally use o2  sims in these with no issue but there is no signal in this location so had to go with EE.

When i topped up, does this top up automatically get assigned to data or do i need to do something else?

Thanks.

All a top-up does is add money credit to a SIM. To have data you need to buy a 30-day pack or a data add-on from that credit.

Thanks, i am not familiar with this method, very different to o2 and Voda sims i use.

How do i add a data add with the credit?

The sim is in the device 150 miles from here.

When i first bought the sim i added credit using the online topup facility, placed it in and it worked for 30 days.

It's difficult if not well nigh impossible to buy a data add-on when the SIM is not in a device like a phone or mobile router which can browse the Net. You might be able to buy a data add-on thro' its EE a/c.

The 1st time you used it it would've bought the 30-day pack it was primed with from the top-up you added. You could top-up again & it should renew the pack for another 30-days. How long ago did you 1st use it in this way?

When i first got the sim i topped it up online and it just worked, so likely primed in the way you mention, this was around 50 days ago, it stopped working 20 days ago.

I then topped it up again in the exact same way but nothing has happened, the credit ahs gone on as the auto text mesages are working.

It doesn't have it's own EE acount that you refer to, i literally topped it up and placed it in, like i do with other providers sims, i did not register for an account.

Then register an a/c for it. In your online MyEE: Home > Plans & Subs > Manage numbers > Add another number > Link EE mobile or SIM.

How much are you topping it up with? Do you remember what price pack it came with when you bought it? If you are topping up just that amount then the auto texts are reducing it, leaving it with not enough credit to auto buy the pack.

I have tried, it wants to send a verification code but i have no way to retreive it.

Ah, hence my "well nigh impossible". You can only register it by putting it in a phone or mobile router to receive the verification code.

We'll just have to follow up the top-up & auto pack renewal method.

Thats not possibe either as i don't have an EE / unlocked phone and it is 150 miles away up a mountain.

I cannot undertand why all the other providers sims just 'work' and can be topped up.

Is there any other way you can suggest as i am at a loss now

Thanks.

Yes, as I said the recurring pack method. Answer my previous Qs.
