Data abroad worked until I used data up, not texting for data not working

In Singapore and my data ran out last night. I have a text message 'to buy an add-on reply to this text free with 150MBTDB'. But  when I do I get 'we're sorry but there has been a technical error'. 

I have ROAM ANYWHERE activated

I've tried WORLD PASSPORT but get 'your current allowances aren't compatible with World Passport.' 

So I have a very expensive monthly contract so that I can travel the world on business, but no data in Singapore and head to Malaysia tomorrow. 

Anyone with any ideas - I would be grateful. It is hard to travel with no data and therefore no translation and no maps!

Yes - I had tried everything from texting for add-ons, to the online website, and to the App when on wireless. Nothing worked.

Now the UK is awake, I have borrowed someones phone and called customer services. It took 25 minutes, so I am unsure about everything and which specific thing fixed the problem.
Essentially, they have 'reset some things’, and also removed some legacy add-ons “world select talk and text’ and ‘travel data pass’ which was stopping me having a world passport.

I guess I have been with EE for too long.. and legacy contracts got the better of me.
