Zte MC801 not working on new EE sim after upgrade

I  experienced losing connection with my ee sim in Zte MC801 router which previously working for a year now

here are the troubleshooting guide  that I have made

  1. Factory reset  my router, check updates on the firmware  and review  the APN where my ee sim is connecting  - but not working
  2. Call customer support, they reflash my sim but at the end  they recommend a new sim replacement  - still not working
  3. I went to  the nearest EE store, unfortunately, the new sim is not working too!
  4. I tested a 3-year-old sim from EE and  it is working, the sim have signal on my ZTE router. I tried other sim to (vodafone/giffgaff) and I recieve data too.

Proposed  Resolution : contact ZTE why new releases of EE simcards are no longer compatible. 😞

Is there something that I have missed ?

Hi @jeffmagayano

Thanks for coming to the community and letting us know all the steps you have tried to resolve the EE SIM not working in the router.

Just to check, have you tried the SIM card in any other device to see if signal shows?

Speak soon 🙂

Leanne.

I've had exactly the same problem in the last couple of days.

ZTE MC801a router with an EE data sim (prepaid via third party), just stopped working after a year of working fine.

SIM is still valid and works fine on a iphone.  My iphone EE data and calls SIM (quite old) is working fine in the router.

So the problem appears to be a combination of the router and the year old EE data sim.

So only option get a new router or get a different network sim?
