Unlimited data but I have a data limit warning !

I live out in the country, in Lanarkshire, where there's no fibre and ,apparently, no telephone line, so I have to get my broadband via a router with a sim card. Just today I had a notification of price rises in April and it looks like the monthly charge is going up by over 10%.

I thought I should check, so, when I log in to MyEE, I can see the following for my plan , and I'm confused!

Unlimited data

Great news! Your plan includes unlimited data. You have used 81.5GB so far this month.

Then I have a warning:

18.5 GB left of 100.0 GB

and a link to see details, which is what I find utterly confusing:

What's this 100Gb limit related to?

Have you gifted data to another line on your account?

Thanks for replying.

I have no idea what gifting is, though I can guess.

I do also have a landline, which I could only get by also getting another router from BT , which gives me a really slow broadband (between 1 and 3Mb if I'm lucky). That is also on unlimited data but could that be somehow involved?

Things would be so much easier if fibre finally arrives but that's not a priority apparently

FTTP is not available.

The exchange is not in a current fibre priority programme

It's only talking about data that you may potentially gift from the 1st 100GB of all your data to other nos. on your a/c if you choose to. It's just a warning just in case you wanted to. You may safely ignore it & carry on using data for your own purposes including hotspotting.

As you use data for your own use you are eating into this gifting allowance even when you are not actually gifting it.

You may have Fibre (FTTC) there which would give you reasonable speeds, just not Full Fibre (FTTP).

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your address, using its Address Checker? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your address.

thanks xray and thanks dsandilands for the question.

Does ee have a suggestions box?!

- They should include better help links with warning messages &/or phrase them better.

I got the same message and wondered if there had been a malfunction at ee.   I thought i risked running out of data on the day i was leaving for a funeral and family visit.  It got me very stressed  and this is the  first page ANYWHERE that it seems to be explained simply.

It could say something like 'if you are planning to gift data to family members this billing period you only have 18gb available'.  'At your average rate this month 18gb will last n days/hours'
