I'm trying to request a standard 30 day disconection for a mobile broadband number; my monthly invoice has a big EE logo at the top of it. Upon contacting EE customer services, I am told that this is an Orange number and they can't access the account because of this. Upon asking if they could pass me through to someone else that can do this, I'm told that 'sorry, there isn't a department for that'. I was then given another number to call, which turned out to be disconnected.
Any ideas on how/who I can speak to at EE to process this this disconecction request? Going round in circles, to put it mildly. I'm sure it's not the correct method, but would simply cancelling my month EE diret debit give me the same result?

No, by cancelling your DD you would still be contracted to pay EE money, you would mar your credit record & put you at risk of being chased by debt collectors.
If when you phoned EE, the IVR accepted your Orange mobile no. then they should be able to deal with its cancellation.

That's the problem - when they tried to search for the number, they couldn't bring it up on their system, citing the reason that it was an Orange number.

@tsum at the top of your EE bill you will find your EE account number.

This was all given to the gentleman that I spoke to. He could bring the account up, but couldn't access the phone number, because he said it was an Orange number.

I would call them again @tsum as Orange was discontinued in 2019.
