Roaming in Australia

Hi I am in Australia and I have nothing - can't make calls, no data, nothing. Every time I've been abroad in Europe in the last 2 years the same thing has happened, but at least then I was able to call EE from WiFi and they have eventually sorted it out. But now the international phone number isn't even working (I have WiFi calling enabled). There is no other way of contacting them. I feel like this is some kind of prank - has anyone got any advice?

Hello @ym1986

Welcome to the EE Community.

Did you activate roaming before leaving the UK?

Are you a pay monthly customer?

Have you purchased any roaming packs?

Katie 🙂

Hi Katie, thanks for the reply. I’m a pay monthly customer and Roaming is always on, as mentioned I travel to Europe all the time and roaming never works properly but at least from Europe I can call EE and get them to sort it. They have never told me to buy a roaming pack they just told me to increase my spend cap which I have done. Is it possible to roam here or not and is there any way I can reach customer service? I am currently paying for 2 phone bills so really unhappy customer here

Hi @ym1986

What plan are you on?

Could you also please confirm when your current plan started? there has been some changes to Roaming which means our new plans require the Roam Abroad pass to be active to use data etc.

What happens when you try to make a call?

Speak soon,

Katie

I’m on a 100GB / month plan. I don’t know exactly when this plan started I’m sorry. I’ve been with EE for 5 years but I believe my plan has changed within the last couple of years when I got my new handset. When I try to make a call to any number including your “international customer service” number, literally nothing happens for about a minute and eventually it says call failed.

Is there any chance someone can contact me to help sort this out?

On your phone or on your a/c? It needs to be on your a/c. Did you text ROAMING to 150 before leaving UK?

No one will contact you from this user discussion group other than thro' the medium of these forums by posts such as this. Anyway we haven't the faintest idea who you are.

Gosh how rude. I was actually speaking to Katie who I thought was from EE support. Thanks for chiming in though, very constructive.

No, while you might have been responding to @Katie_B you were speaking to everyone on this open public forum.

All the same I asked you a valid question on your issue and circumstances.

Have you tried manually connecting to a different available network, @ym1986?
