I have a 4/5G router and I'm failing to get port forwarding to work. I've confirmed IP address for WAN port, enabled port forwarding rule, however, I see no forwarded packets on my server. When I investigate the router, there is no system logging of anything to do with port forwarding (I also see no option to control what would be in the system log). I also notice that the connected devices list does not have my server listed as a connected device. My router firmware is up to date and a restart (in case the forwarding rule needed that despite not being restarted after applying). Note, I've tried a seclection of ports, just in case.
Therefore at a loss on how to proceed. All help gratefully appreciated.

What is the server? Have you fixed its IP? Is it up & running?
Show us your Port Forwarding settings.

Hi there. The server happens to be a Raspberry Pi. In terms of settings, not sure what you mean precisely, however, Port 1194 UDP, port 1081, TCP/UDP if that's of any help, what's more important IMHO is what the router is doing with those ports/packets. 1194 is mapped to 1194 and 1081 mapped to 443. The rule's IP address does indeed match the server's LAN IP address.
The server is most definitley alive, I'm running tcpdump on it to see what gets through.
It would be useful to know what logging the router does in these scenarios, as that would tell me more.

Just show me an image of the Port Forwarding page please & let me interpret it.
What is "IP address for WAN port" in your OP? Do you just mean your connection's external public IP? Where did you get hold of that from? Does it start with "10."?

Apologies for the delay in getting back. I've gone back and checked all my assumptions and discovered that What's My IP shows different ipv4 and ipv6 addresses for each device on my LAN. All my previous set ups were with an IPv4 address and a regular DDNS update. Since changing house/router I've been trying to get back to having some home services available when out of the house. Right now I'm trying to understand how to get an IP address that I can use when travelling. Manually setting the IPv6 address to the value shown in the router's status->internet page is not "working", nor is using anything from What's My IP. So I do not know at this point whether I am using the correct IP address and wrong port forwarding setting or wrong IP address.

You are finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.
If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.
I can't understand how it's possible for What's My IP to show different addresses for each device on your LAN. They are all going thro' the same router which only has 1 public IP, albeit shared with other EE mobile routers for the reason given above.
