New Account

Hi, advice appreciated. Had a 4gee router for a couple of years but stopped working. All lights come on and stay on. I had an old TP-Link router so I thought i’d save a bit of  money after EE said out of warranty and not much we can do. I didn’t realise i could put the sim (with an adapter) into new router. So i bought a 60gb data pack with new sim. Put it in the router. No problem at all connected to internet and i thought great problem solved.

Problem is it wouldn’t let me register a new account because i’m using same email. So i managed to cancel my old subscription and even updated account with new sim phone number. But it is still showing my old account details but there is no option to start a subscription with my new sim.

Not sure there is anything else i can do on my end and whether a phone call will allow them to sort this out.  I’ve got 60gb that lasts upto two months so there is no urgency at the moment. Starting to think i should have set up a new email just to use that for the EE account. Not sure if it is too late to do that or if will just compound the problem? Seeing as phone number is now linked to the account doubt that would work anyway. Thanks. Mark.

You don't need to register a new a/c. Just remove your old no. from existing a/c & add your new no., if you haven't already. Your mobile router will be sent a authorisation SMS with a code to be fed back to the EE website.

I think i’ve done the phone number. As this one is now showing. I attempted to activate the new sim but won’t accept the serial number. Have thrown out the plastic surround of sim card, the number on the actual sim is 12 digits so i assume that is it but no luck trying to do it that way. They sent a code to new router so that’s fine. Might just need to phone them closer to the expiry of allowance as I don’t want to screw things up. The last router went down the toilet just after £20 was taken so I don’t want to lose another £30. Thanks anyway.

A SIM shouldn't need activating. What is asking for the SIM's serial no. (as opposed to mobile no)? I know of nowt that needs it.
