Hi all,
Just got a Huawei B818-263 router with unlimited EE 4G data sim as I totally got tired of waiting for the Scottish government to make good on a promise to give us something approaching usable broadband...but I'm having problems connecting any Echo, Sonos or Sky+ HD devices.
EE 4G broadband is blistering compared to the landline with +100Mbps down and +10 up (and ping sub 40ms) compared to Sky at about 5Mbps and sub-1.
My system is somewhat complicated but has worked fine with a Sky ADSL/Landline router for years. However I finally got tired of watching the blue circle chasing around and went the [EE] 4G route.
Both the Huawei and the Sky's native WiFi is switched off with a Cat6 network cable running from whichever one I'm using/testing to a MESH system of TP-link Deco P9s for WiFi and a further Cat6 cable running through two unmanaged Netgear 300-series (GS305 and GS308) switches to various hard-wired systems including the Sky+ HD. As I said, this has been working fine for years but when I substitute the EE 4G a lot of it falls over.
Our GiffGaff Android phones have no problem with either router on WiFi. The Amazon Firesticks likewise accept WiFi from either setup as does the Android tablet. The hard-wired (Cat6 through unmanaged switch) Windows 10 desktop also has no problems accessing the Internet.
I thought it might be a sub-net issue but, after a while all the DECOs and the Sky box had cycled and had a 192.168.8.xx IP address. Still no joy.
I have only tried to reconnect the two ECHO Dots but two of the Sonos' have Alexa too so I assume it's a mutual problem with them...but the Sonos Amp doesn't have Alexa and it won't connect either.
The Alexa app can see the MESH WiFi but it just won't connect. I have tried to connect the Echos directly to the Huawei WiFi but the same thing happens.
Anyone have any idea what's going on here?
Cheers,
Zulu

Hi @PPIZulu
Welcome to the community and thanks for posting.
Have you tried restarting all of the devices in question, including the router? Just unplug it from the main socket for a couple of minutes.
Hopefully that allows it to connect.

Hi @PPIZulu,
I'd recommend reaching out to the manufacturers of the devices you're having issues with to see if they are aware of any settings that need to be changed to use them with a mobile, rather than fixed line broadband service.
