Netflix problems

Ever since buying a new 5GEE Home Router, apps such as Netflix have stopped working on my TVs. The internet is working with other apps, but Netflix always comes up with the error codes 2-4 or 2-5.

I've tried re-setting the router and TV and apps multiple times. Any tips appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there @Jane1236

Thanks for coming to the community 🙂

Can you access Netflix on the TV using a different WiFi connection?

Have you tried the steps on the Netflix Error NW-2-4 | Netflix Help Center page?

It sounds like you’re experiencing issues with Netflix on your new 5GEE Home Router, particularly with error codes NW-2-4 or NW-2-5, which typically point to network connectivity problems. Even though other apps are working, these Netflix errors often occur when the device is having trouble connecting to Netflix servers.

Here are a few steps to help troubleshoot the issue:

1. Restart Your Router and TV

A simple restart can often resolve connectivity problems. Unplug your 5GEE Home Router for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Do the same for your TV or streaming device. After both devices are back online, try launching Netflix again.

2. Check Your Network Settings

Error codes NW-2-4 and NW-2-5 usually suggest there’s an issue with the network connection on the TV. Make sure your TV or streaming device is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network:

  • Go to your TV’s network settings.
  • Verify that it’s connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Run a network test from within the settings if the option is available.

3. Disable VPN or Proxy

If you’re using a VPN or proxy, this could interfere with Netflix's ability to connect. Try disabling any VPN or proxy services and attempt to access Netflix again.

4. Adjust DNS Settings

Sometimes, changing your DNS settings can help resolve connectivity issues with Netflix:

  • On your TV, go to Network Settings.
  • Choose Manual and change the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4, which are Google’s public DNS servers.
  • Save the settings and restart your TV.

5. Check for Router Compatibility Issues

Since you’re using a 5GEE Home Router, ensure that the router settings aren’t blocking Netflix traffic. Some routers have built-in security features that might interfere with streaming services. Checking the router’s firewall or security settings and disabling any content filtering could help resolve this issue.

Hopefully, one of these solutions will get Netflix back up and running on your TV. If the problem continues, contacting your ISP or checking with Netflix’s support team might also help uncover any larger network issues.
