Login to 4GEE Mini via iPad

I've just purchased a 4GEE Mini and I can login via my Samsung Note9 phone. However, using the same credentials, I can't login via my iPad.* The only way I can get the benefit of 4GEE connectivity on my iPad is via my Note9. I have to set up a Hotspot (Mobile Access Point) and use that instead.

*It's a 6th gen iPad on iOS 15.6.1 - Why can't I connect directly to the 4GEE Mini?

By "login" I presume you mean connect by WiFi? Logging into a router is something different; accessing its settings.

Is the router set to its 2.4 or 5 Ghz WiFi band? If 5, try 2.4.

Yeah, I do mean connection via WiFi, which would naturally precede logging onto the router to change settings. I can connect to the router perfectly with my Samsung Galaxy Note9, including logging into the router to switch between 2.4G & 5G. Every attempt with any Apple device, iOS or MacOS, fails. I get WiFi doesn't have an IP address and therefore cannot connect to the Internet.

Surely I shouldn't have to create a mobile hotspot/AP on my Android device(s) to allow my Apple devices to connect to the Internet.

No, you shouldn't need to connect to a mobile's hotspot. You should be able to connect via the router & I don't see why it isn't.

Does the router show what type of security it is using for its WiFi?

It's looking for WPA2.

Hi @DrEcosse,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

Have you tried resetting network settings on your iPad?

James

Hi @James_B

I've just done that and it's made no difference. I keep getting the same message, except for my Samsung Galaxy Note9, that I've entered an "Incorrect password for "4GEE-Wifi-8793-5Hhz" or "...2Ghz" depending on the one that's active.

BTW: This has now been tried on every Apple device and Windows PC/Laptop. The ONLY device that connects properly is my Note9 Android phone. I've tried an older Samsung S4 mini, which is on Android 4.4.2 (KitKat), but it has the same issue - not recognising the password.

Do I have a faulty router? It was supplied on contract just a couple of weeks ago by BT, as they now own EE.

That's interesting about all the Apples not connecting. Apples refuse to connect to WiFi with Security = WPA2/WPA combined. You sure yours is WPA2 only?

Also is there a Cipher Type setting? That should be AES not TKIP.

Yep! I've tried ALL combinations. The only, but totally unsafe" way I can connect to the router, is when I disable any security. That will NEVER happen normally but I did it quickly as a test.

Hi @DrEcosse,

Is it always the 'incorrect password' error you see? I wouldn't expect this to be related to your security settings.
