I have been given a small small 4EE WiFi mini router from a friend. He says he hasn't used it for several years. It has the box, plus original instructions, login card etc.
Can I use this for data if I stick in a random SIM card? I was thinking of using it on my travels abroad as my phone can't take esims .
I've tried a Lebara sim card in the unit but it isn't connecting, although MYWIFI94E1 appears as available in Connections
Thanks

The network will always appear when the box is switched on, but it is the SIM which provides the Internet Access itself and if this is not working it will just say no Internet connection when you connect to the network.
While connected to the network (even without internet), try navigating to the admin portal which is detailed on the login card and see if it is picking up the SIM card.
If it was originally purchased before December 2021 it may be network locked to EE, in which case you can try to unlock it here: https://ee.co.uk/plans-subscriptions/mobile/settings-permissions/device-unlock

"Several years"? Then it's almost certainly locked to EE. So unless you unlock it, it should work with only an EE SIM.
