Getting started on payg broadband

I have a portable wifi router that works via sim card i have a normal ee sim, do i need data sim or will regular sim work just the same?
any help appreciated

A phone SIM will work just as well & usually they work out cheaper per data than a data SIM.
To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

No difference between a Data Only SIM and normal SIM functionally, it just depends what you're aiming to achieve with it.
If it is a normal Pay As You Go EE 'phone' SIM, this is capped at 25 Mbps speed.
There are Preloaded EE Data Only SIMs available through other retailers, if this is the direction you'd prefer to go. I don't believe these have the same speed cap, but would be worth checking before purchase.
