GLinet router and Ipv4

I have just purchased a GLinet x2000 router. It didn't work with either of my EE Sims I have. The Sims do work in my older and much slower TP Link router. Apparently the issue is my Sims will not get an IP address as they are iPv4 only and the GLinet router out of the box has ipv6. They say they will fix this to allow the choice in a future update. Does this mean my SIM cards are older ones as I thought EE uses Ipv6? On my old TP Link router the cards failed to connect when I forced it to use iPv4&ipv6. The GLinet have hacked the config to force it to use iPv4 but this isn't a long term solution. Is there anything I can do in the meantime. I have rung EE support and I suppose rightly they say it isn't their issue as the Sims are working.

There are and have been some issues when using ipv6 on the EE Network, untill things change it is recommended the you set the Profile to ipv4 Only and use PAP.

Will have to wait until the modem manufacturer does the release to fix that as the router doesn't seem to allow just iPv4 as a standard, until then it will have to be the hacked setup. I wonder what the issue is as using iPv4 must be quite old tech!

Why or how does the Router not allow IPV4 Only, there should be an option to set up a new Profile.

Nope no option for iPv4 only until the next update arrives unfortunately. Presumably an oversight on their part. Even my very slow TP Link router I can specify.

Strange, having said that a lot of routers will not let you change the Ipv* Settings whilst it has an active connection, so you may have to disconnect the current connection first, have you tried setting up a Brand New Profile with ipv4 / PAP then renaming the profile then Save, then reboot, select the new renamed Profile as the Default, then connect etc.

Also are you using Load Balancing on the Router?, IE, Dual SIM is Set, or is the EE SIM in SIM 1 or 0 SIM slot.

The SIM is sitting in slot 2 as I had my other EE SIM in slot 1, I will see if the active connection thing works after I have made a backup of the hacked working connection. Thanks.

Hey @Doddie99 having the same issue, you mentioned a fix, I've been unable to find one through the GLInet docs. Could you share what you've done to make it work or point me at the details somewhere?

I had to send an email to GliNet support. You then need to sign up to the
remote access and they will take over your router and hack to allow iPv4
addresses.

Cheers

Mark
