EE mobile routers are not really suitable for gaming.
You are finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.
If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.

I now have the same problem as well. I got my 5g router around 6 months ago and initially everything was fine with the xbox, but then either EE or xbox themselves changed something within their settings which stopped party chat from working,
Xrayspecs explanation of the probable cause is all fine and good, but EE DOI market their devices as being great for gaming, even going so far as teaming up with console makers to do cross-promotions, so I think its quite ridiculous for us to be facing these issues with them seemingly unable to help.
I'm sure EE could do something to at least alleviate the issues as it has worked better in the past and I have friends who use vodafones mobile network to game on the xbox without these issues,
I do wish someone from EE would make an official comment on this, as the way these issues are being unackowledged & uncommunicated is frankly unacceptable.

Hi @waddo
Welcome to the community.
This could very well be the problem, but it could also be caused by something else. Have you spoken to our technical support team?

Download and install the VPN software on your Windows PC.
Connect your PS4 to your PC with the ethernet cable.
Open the Control Panel in Windows and navigate to the Network and Sharing Center.
Click on Change Adaptor Settings in the left sidebar.
Right-click on your VPN connection (the one installed on your PC), click Properties > Sharing.
Tick the box that says: Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection.
Locate the Home networking connection drop-down menu and select your ethernet connection.
Connect to the VPN server you require by using the VPN client on your PC.
Boot up your PS4.
On the main menu screen click on Settings > Network Settings.
Under Network Settings select Set up Internet Connection.
Select Use a LAN Cable when you are prompted.
Select Easy for the connection method and confirm Do Not Use a Proxy Server when asked.
Accept these settings and click Test Connection to ensure it works correctly.

Typical answer from EE.
Shifting the blame from themselves but not providing an actual answer...ie You have no clue what the problem is and no idea how to fix it.
You are one of the absolute worst providers I have ever had dealings with.
I have made lots... and I do mean lots of complaints to EE regarding your service to me (you are under contract to provide me a minimum of 10 MBs download speed service...I'm lucky if I get kBs some days).. and the latest call, your Technical Service advisor REFUSED, not declined, REFUSED to investigate the issue. Trust me, Complaint inbound, seeking legal advice.

I'm having the same problem as you the only thing I cannot do on my xbox is join. An xbox party chat through the xbox, I can play multilayer and do everything else, I had a different tp link router before getting the 5g router from ee (set to 4g) and that worked absolutely fine never had an issue just slower download speeds. It's frustrating as it's only a minor problem but becomes major as everything you want to play a game with friends you have to join the party through your phone on the xbox app. I tried putting my xbox into the DMZ and port Forwarded recommended ports to my xbox. I spoke to ee to resolve this and they told me its becasue and xbox requires a constant stream ( broadband) where as a movile network is not constant or something, i then explained that uts worked perfectly fine before but he didnt have an asnwer for that. I then have asked someone i know about this and they told me potentially it was to do with he's firewall blocking my xbox to be freely on the Internet or something and that I would have to request ee to remove me from protection, I'm not sure if this is a good idea. Anyone had any better luck.!?!?!
