Hello,
I purchased the best broadband package as I run a number of web sites. To upload new content to these web sites which is a daily occurrence, the company use my ip address as a useful guide to who I am, and block others from posting, or more importantly trying to hack into my web accounts.
My first problem is that EE seems to like changing the physical address to my brodband regularly, maybe once a week or maybe monthly, it varies. I then have to contact my web provider with details of my ip address from whatsmyipaddress.com and they reset my privileges.
On top of this, I purchased some smart plug sockets from TAPO to be able to turn my christmas lights onand off via a web app. Great. It works for a day or so, then it stops working completely. It is a major pain in the bottom getting services to work with EE as it is so restrictive. Any suggestions.
Thanks#

Which router do you have?

Typically you would only get a new IP Address when the hub has been rebooted , although that's not a hard & fast rule.
So are you rebooting the hub at all?
As for the Tapo smart switches is it an issue when turning them on/off when you're at home on your wifi or away?
Personally I've not experienced connection issues with whatever router I've used. What do you need to do to get them working again?

I am aware of the change of ip address every time I am unable to upload via ftp to my sites / server. I check with https://whatismyipaddress.com/ to confirm this, but can happen anytime. I could go and check the number of support emails I have sent to my provider to change the whitelist ip address, which is just plainly annoying for me and them because EE is a bit crap.
As regards the TAPO electric smart sockets I have only been using these for a few days, but they have stopped working at least three times now, all of them, and these are on the 2.4GHz setting only, and when adding them back I have troubles finding the EE router to start with, who knows. Its a shame as it saves a lot of effort having the smart sockets. I did try plugging in my electric oxygen concentrator into one of these but in whined very loudly, so you cannot do that, but that's another story.
So, one is an annoying issue and the other is EE knocking out my signal on a regular basis for whatever the reason is.

In some respects you're lucky that EE/BT still offer unique public IP Addresses whereas many ISPs now only offer CGNAT addresses that are not unique to your broadband which causes added complications.
With the TAPO devices , I have a few, they communicate via TP-Link's servers so the app can talk directly to your devices when you're roaming so CGNAT is not an issue. It does sound in your case that the EE router's wifi signal might not be strong enough to reach where the Tapo's are. Maybe a wifi extender would help. I've a TP-Link RE705X which does a pretty good job as an extender.

Thanks for the response. The Tapo switches are OK, the router was a bit dazed I think; maybe too many other electrics nearby. I have the technical team on this, and it will be monitored for the next few days. I have to say, the help at EE far surpasses that I used to get at Virgin even after being a customer for 40 years , and I find talking to a techie rather good.
