Apple music 6m Free - How to get this when using SIM in 4G Router?

Hi All,

Could anyone please shed light on this...

Recently upgraded SIM only plan, which we use for mobile broadband (in a TP Link router), and was given the option of a free smart benefit.

I selected 6 months free access to Apple Music.

With the SIM in the router and not in a mobile device/tablet, how do we get access to Apple Music?

Thanks for the help in advance.

From a device connected by WiFi to the router?

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thanks for response @XRaySpeX - however when I upgraded the SIM package it said you would receive an SMS with details on the benefits (i.e. Apple Music) however with the SIM not connected to a mobile device there is no way of receiving the SMS which I'm guessing has some kind of promo code used to activate the 6m free Apple Music subscription?

Most mobile routers are able to do SMS. Does it have an envelope LED on it to show you have unread texts? Login to it & look for the SMS section.

Thanks @XRaySpeX I wasn't aware of that feature and can now access the messages, thank you!

However, it seems to activate the free Apple Music subscription you need to visit applemusic.com/ee/welcome/ from a mobile device with the EE SIM card in and my iPhone is locked to Vodafone so it's not possible to swap the 4G router SIM over to my phone temporarily to access and get the benefit... oh well, I guess EE didn't think of this scenario, so not such a "smart" benefit.

Cheers for your help anyway.

Can't you visit that website from your iPhone while it is WiFi'ed to the mobile router with the EE SIM in it?

Tried that and a prompt comes up saying:
