5GEE router latest firmware (5GEE_Router_V01.15)

Hello

I have two of these 5GEE routers (Zyxel NR5103 model), I have unfortunately upgraded both to v01.15 which has caused very unstable 5G connectivity (the router regularly switches between 4G and 5G, having been completely stable 5G on v01.14)

I live in an area with excellent 5G and have never seen 4G used until this update.

there is another post from a user with a similar issue post the v01.15 update, I have even had a replacement SIM from an EE store which has not fixed this issue.

I am convinced there is a problem with v01.15 firmware update, occurs on both routers I have:

- is there a change log available of what the update does (has it updated the modem firmware too?)
- often it will switch to 4G when not being used (perhaps this was intended as an energy-saving feature?)

Hi @newfoundglory1

Have you tried restarting/resetting the router.

Thanks

Hey so yes, after SIM replacement it wasnt showing the mobile number so have restarted many times.

I can see in the router control panel what is happening.

I think there are two cells, so you sometimes see one or the other cell id.

Both have slightly different bands shown, the one which usually shows B7+N78+N3, sometimes switches to showing only B7 in use (I assume this is a 4G band and so the router displays itself as only being in 4G, until it reverts to B7+N78+N3)

Does anyone know why it might be doing this?

One thing the V01.15 firmware does seem to have enabled is the ability to return to a 5G signal after the router drops to 4G.

This was a real pain for me as every time our internet speeds dropped I had to check the router, more often than not it had dropped to 4G and the only way to get back to 5G was a reboot.

This now seems to be resolved as I have observed the router drop to 4G then, when checked later, it was back on 5G.

I wish EE would post details of these firmware updates so we could see what had been added or changed.
