TV box issues after powercut

Since having BT TV about 10 days ago, we've had 2 power cuts. Both times we've had to factory reset the TV box as it appears to "brick". The first time we had to get phone support but the latest one (last night) we have resolved ourselves. Firmware all up to date.

Is this common?

Hi @Dragonette,

Welcome to the EE Community

Sorry to hear you have been having some issues with your TV box. I have not heard this specific problem reported elsewhere. The Power cut may have caused some corruption in the memory or something similair.

Hopefully you don't experience any further issues but if you do I would recommend reaching out to our TV technical team for further assistance.

A general powercut would likely affect your broadband hub  and other equipment and devices. So it is possible these might need to be restarted before restarting your  TV Box.. When you say brick what state is it actually in - factory rests are often  a solution that are over recommended  when a less dramatic solution would suffice.

Completely stuck on a screen which hasn't loaded and no ability to scroll or access any menus. Just completely stuck and a power off, wait, doesn't resolve it.
