5GEE Router 2021 Xbox Party Issues

Wilkins1

Hi all

i recently purchase the 5GEE 2021 router and was impressed with the speeds however whenever my son uses it for his Xbox he cannot join a party. I rang the support line who told me this was not possible on mobile broadband however we have had numerous mobile broadbands which have all allowed him to speak in an Xbox party chat.

im sure it’s somewhere in the settings but no one could find a solution. Does anyone have any idea on what would need to be changed in the settings just to let him speak to his friends. He can connect to online games absolutely fine but as soon as he joins the party it kicks him out of it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

You may be finding yourself up against a limitation of EE's mobile network. The EE mobile network uses Carrier Grade NAT (CGNAT) resulting in a double NAT, which games consoles often object to, which means you don't get your own public IP address but share it with other users. So you can't be uniquely id'ed on the Net & therefore your LAN cannot be addressed from outside for unsolicited accesses. This is unlike fixed BB.

If this occurs there is nowt you can do to avoid it.

I understand what you mean but the 4GEE router worked perfectly fine for it.

Must be something within the settings that restricts this one feature.

This is sh*t advertising on EE's part tbh. Should display a warning on purchase of said router "not compatible with most Xbox features" when they offer Xboxes as part of their package deal.

Create a new profile on the router, use all the same details as your current one but restrict it to IPV4 only.

This works with Playstations.

I bought a £50 pound TP-Link mobile 4G router that worked fine and I had open NAT most of the time sometimes just needed to swap port but then got open strait away so good on xbox gaming and chat. Then I thought I'll upgrade to a 5G and I constantly get a strick Nat which prevents party chat even though double the speed... im still looking for a work around. But for the minute I wouldn't go near this company for gaming until they sort out a static ip for each person rather than a shared one
