4GEE wifi mini drops connection

Seeking help on here as phoned ee many times and been into store and keep getting the same things said to me.

Basically since I got this mini 4GEE router (with an unlimited sim in it) there’s been issues with it losing connection every 5 minutes or so. In a flat of 5 students it is the worst as we can’t do any online work or meetings as it takes 5 further minutes to reconnect. Everything is perfect when it works I just wish it would stop cutting out.

Anyway, I’ve tried without success even trying to get a replacement box but conveniently every time I phone EE there’s a maintenance issue (and one that had been apparently happening since I started my contract and got the box originally) so that stops me from getting a replacement. Meanwhile my phone service with EE had never had any issues in the same place and yes i know that apparently the device sim cards are in can affect connection - but there’s still an issue with the box then and i’m paying for something which won’t work?

When I went into store they told me they couldn’t do anything until I had a ping test done on the box remotely, to which I said i know that it’ll be fine in the moment because the box will be working at that point. Low and behold every time they run a diagnostic test everything is ‘fine’.

The ‘fix’ from EE is apparently to wait a month until the maintenance works are over, meaning I can’t do any university work here and not only that but i’m paying for this to not work for a month or possibly longer. Also the credit i’m given doesn’t even cover the upcoming £40 bill, nevermind the past 3 months of faulty service… (also normal broadband/fibre isn’t available in the flat I live in so please no suggestions about changing to that)

thank you!

Hi @liamcl1

Welcome to the community.

I'm sorry to hear of the problems you've had with your router. What kind of maintenance works did they mention? Is it maintenance on the network of masts in your area?
