Gaming on EE 4G wifi

We've just signed up to EE 4G wifi because we've moved to a property without any cabled internet, so didn't have a choice.

Everything is fine - speed it great, and it's all working perfectly.

EXCEPT my son can't connect to it on his PS5 or through Fortnite on his PC. I've not seen anything anywhere within the actual EE information saying that this is not allowed, so why are these things blocked? I've got a very upset child at the moment and absolutely nothing we can do about it. Now that I know it's an issue, I can see other people having the same problem.

Is there any work around to this??

Have you actually encountered this problem yourself and fixed it or are you just talking generally here? For starters I fixed the router physically myself using this method, but if you want further proof I can send a step by step guide with pictures if that would ease your doubt.

Whats the 2 step process?

@Natey-69 : He means 1) Setting APN Protocol = IPv4 Only in Profile & 2) Making that Profile the default.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

How do i do that? I havent got a clue

- Go to your router login portal, head to settings and find profile settings. Can't remember where it is off the top of my head but it's quite easy to find.

- Create a new profile, give it a custom name and set the IP settings on the drop down menu to IpV4 instead of IpV6, the rest of the details remain the same as the default profile.

- Set that profile as default, and restart the router. After turning it back on your PS5 should work

Hope that helps!

@TheProphet99 dude... I think you just solved a problem i've been having for the last year. I tried everything on my 4gEE router to get Steam to connect properly, and changing the profile to IPV4 using the steps above literally worked. Ive been trying to game off of my terrible phone internet for so long... thank you so much ❤️

Absolutely no problem my guy! I'm really glad posting this solution managed to help someone as it's literally nowhere else (at least that I could find) and there's a boatload of misinformation out there about what's actually a pretty simple fix.

You are the absolute man!!! I was so annoyed that no gaming platforms worked until I did the ipv4 thing. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it

The way I fixed this was to set up the connection manually and override the DNS to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare). A shame really that I had to mess about for an hour to get to the solution. This should just work EE, it's unacceptable.

Thank you so much for sharing this, steam is now working and I am no longer getting error messages from other apps that require a login.
