So I brought out portal on holiday and it won’t connect.
The PS5 is setup correctly, straight to LAN and over 500mbs. In rest mode and settings are correct. The portal works perfectly on the home network.
However, as soon as try outside of home network it cannot connect at all.
Is this a router blocking issue?

Welcome to the EE Community, @Jonnycarps 🙂
PlayStation Support are best placed to help you trouble shoot the issues you're seeing with your Portal.
They have some tips in How to troubleshoot issues on your PS Portal (UK) (playstation.com) and a link to contact them directly at the bottom of the page.

Same, not ee broadband. But ee network on phone. Seems ee is issue.
Any solutions?

It's not a portal issue. O2 works great. It's your network.

Hi there @Nordicbaron
Have you tried the tips in the How to troubleshoot issues on your PS Portal (UK) (playstation.com) page?
Has the replacement been sent out the last time you called?
Leanne.

Yes and playstation can't help ee having nat3 on the hotspots.
PS5 requires Nat2 therefore a Nat3 hotspot is no use, it's restricted.
I've had my phone unlocked and will look for other options but I stand by my previous comments, it's shabby.
Ee could offer no resolution or apn setup for nat2. Disappointing.
So yeah, all ee phone customers who buy a portal from you intending to enjoy play away without WiFi, won't be able to. Because Nat3 EE.
I don't know if PS ever plan to change to allow Nat3 but it wouldn't make sense for them to do so, it's a gaming platform which all have historically needed derestricted NAT access. Which is why it's so confusing the gaming network chose to not go with the gaming technology and standards, because you are not a gaming network.
In regards to the VR2, I've asked 3 times on 3 calls among other subjects and nobody gave me an answer.
Last I heard on Saturday is you will receive a text when dpd pickup the goods. This was initiated last Thursday I think. But it was also said the order wasn't processed yet.
No wonder I'm feeling burned out, this has been now 3 days of stress, not sleeping well and lack of appetite.
Since I joined ee last year it's been stressful from day1 with an incident where the sim wasn't upgraded and caused 2 parallel issues. Never been able to use ee store as it says error try again, where when not logged in it offers payment options.
And now half way through the contract it's not changed to be fair. Still can't use store. Now can't use contract data for portal, and I use very little of the 125gb I get. Also left dangling with a headset packed away waiting for an exchange which I've not been notified of yet.
Perhaps you could look into some of it?
Would be appreciated Leanne

Hi, to contradict myself because I've been trying to do it all my life, it can be done. See the information below, I personally created 7 single port forwards, 2x TCP, 2xUDP and 3x Both UDP/TCP.
Previously I had tried setting up a built in port forward option for playstation network and tried a few other bits around the web, but this is the first set of ports that have let me connect.
Any other settings I can think Ive done..
In my router, alongside the above port forwarding, i have enabled UPNP under "home network", and under "firewall".... Oh yes.. 1 last thing, which I think plays a large part (for me, i think), on the router under firewall, I have IP PASSTHROUGH option.
Options for passthrough setup are
Allocation Mode - Passthrough, Passthrough Mode - DHCPS-fixed, Passthrough Fixed Mac Address - (Mac of my PS5), Manual ENtry - (Mac Address of PS5)
If you’re on PlayStation, assign these ports:
TCP UDP Both (Recommended)
1935 | 3074 | 1935 |
3478-3480 | 3478-3479 | 3074 |
3478-3480 |
My phone hotspot is setup as so..
Band 2.4ghz and 5ghz, and prioritise realtime traffic option on, password type is wpa2, didnt have much success with type 3 pass, read corresponding online so now i can confirm it.
I am currently on a 4g signal at home with 0 signal bars, had 3 when i connected to the hotspot, but the portal still responds, although the to be expected lower res due to signal.
Good luck and I hope this offers some hope, which after 3 gruelling almost sleepless days try to find a solution, here we are.
Just checked nat type on the portal once disconnected from ps5, and it still says the phones connection is Nat3, so, there we go, alot of router manipulation and thinking did it.
Appreciate PS and EE making it so easy for us all

In the UK Chris.
Here, take a note, extensive effort but success tonight, not great quality as low bar 4g, and at home but connected, started, logged in, logged out, checked nat on hotspot, still nat3 (which is the issue)... However

Totally agree with you EE support waste of time.
Once my contract has expired I will be leaving them.
I had to buy a mifi on Thee and my portal worked first time. Three was so helpful unlike EE
