Why is it telling me I'm not the account holder so I can't upgrade

@Jess176  that’s because you set your EE account up as a user, not as the bill payer 

Log in to your My EE > Menu > Account Settings > Tick bill payer. 

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

I can't see any box to tick to say I am the bill payer - the only thing I can see is an instruction that I have to call EE to change this on 150.  Is that right?  I've always been the bill payer, so that's a bit irritating.

You need to go to 'Account Settings', then 'Manage Numbers' and it's on that page. You can follow this link and log in to go straight there.
