Well I'm not about to tempt fate with the "extra" data that has shown up on my account. If I go over the 47.5 GB limit before this problem is fixed, I don't want to find myself in a situation where EE says, "Sorry, we goofed up on your available data and you've now used more than your actual allowance. That'll be £1000 please."

I see your point!  I don't seem to use a lot of data myself, as I don't watch a lot of movies, or You-Tube clips on my phone...

I'm beginning to use 4G as my main method of connection to the internet because wired broadband round here is absolutely atrocious. Before someone from EE chips in and tries to sell me broadband access, know that it's OpenReach's infrastructure that's just about hanging on by the skin of its teeth, so switching me over to EE broadband won't make a blind bit of difference. Hell will freeze over before we get FTTP here on a council estate.

Until now I've been using my phone as a modem but that's not practical because the signal here is not particularly strong and moving the phone from its position or even just holding it can cause it to lose the lock on the 4G signal and downgrade the connection to 2G.

So I bought an LTE router. I can place that in an area of the flat with a reasonable signal and it sprays Wi-Fi coverage throughout the place. There's a PAYG SIM in it right now while I'm evaluating the practicality of the setup, but if it works out then I'll bump the line up to a contract with a small amount of data, bring it into the same account as my phone and gift chunks of my 100 GB allowance on the phone to the router.

That sounds like a good plan, if you have good 4G reception.  We're quite lucky here, to have a fibre-optic Internet connection, which is actually pretty good!

It's not that good. I get maybe 10 mbps down and up to 0.8 mbps up on 4G. That's still better than the home broadband.

Maybe they'll upgrade the cable connection at some point?

3½ days later and the service is still down...

I started the app, had to -

sign in - even though it's stored on my phone

set up my pin - already set up

confirm my finger print - again already set up

Everything is still at zero - what the hell is going on, this is improving the experience?

I was due a bonus today - sent a text AL to 150, it was a little slow, but was confirmed I again sent AL to 150 and the extra minutes had been added to my allowances, so there is that i suppose.

Yup, and it's still down on Saturday morning at 9am, both the Android app & the PC app...
