Session

Morning,

When logging in there’s no ‘remember me’ option, the fact that there isn’t would lead me to believe that that’s automatic? That being the case it appears sessions are dropping when leaving this board and then on returning I have to log again in every time. I use the same device to login in a 9th generation iPad.

Is this by design or an issue with the software or even my iPad?

That's pretty standard behaviour in my experience, across Windows & Android devices.

But I don’t believe it’s a device issue, it’s down to the software. For example, I click the EE MyEE app and I’m logged in, no typing usernames or passwords. If I browse to the community site from there I have to log in. Now, I know both sites are different but how come one maintains the session and the other doesn’t. I work on a large bulletin board support team and I havn’t had to log in there for ten years, except for mishaps of my own doing of course.

Hi @Mixstar,

Your community login uses a single sign on feature that is linked to your EE account. It's by design to log you out after a period of inactivity.

Hope this helps.

Well it does and it doesn’t. Most systems log themselves out after a period of inactivity, agreed but, with the use of a session cookie (not governed by GDPR) and clicking ‘Remember me’ you will be logged back in when you return unless you physically log out. MyEE does (I can’t remember if MyEE has a ‘remember me’, I never have to log back in there)  but the community site doesn't which seems odd to me and, to be brutal, is a pain in the backside.

I find that on a PC I stay logged into the Community for hours even after closing browser & restarting later, while on Android mobile if I return 10 mins later (maybe even immediately) I'm logged out.

I was forgetting to mention that when logging in to MyEE I use fingerprint recognition, I only just remembered as I’ve just had to do it so my previous information wasn’t totally correct. For my two penneth though, this site should be session linked with MyEE or have the ability to use fingerprint or facial recognition or a key code.

Never mind it is what it is.
