I've just ordered broadband and landline from EE to be connected later this week. However when looking through the order details they have allocated the landline/digital voice a telephone number from Nottingham (0115)
The area we live is covered by 01773 so I would have expected to be issued with a number representative of the area not from a city quite a few miles away.
Not only does it make it appear we live in Nottingham when we don't, I can't understand why they are not issuing telephone numbers associated with the area in which the premises are and are recognisable and not giving the impression you live in an area that you don't.
Have others been given numbers bearing no local resemblance to where they live?
150 seemed a little clueless when I called to query it so I gave up in the end.
I don't want to cancel the order but if we are to have the landline/digital voice it is preferable to have it from an 01773 allocation and not 0115 that bears no resemblance to where we are.

@J55C Where is the FF OR exchange located in reference to your address?

I'm not sure what FF is but the local exchange within our area is less than a mile away 01773 covers 9 exchanges. We are also in Derbyshire not Nottinghamshire. In 2022 we had BT with DV connected at the address and it was given a 01773 number when that contract ran out we used mobile broadband for a while, but as it can be less reliable at times, decided to go back to bt but as ee was slightly cheaper opted for them as thought BT/EE were the same (ish) but even so would still expect to be given a local telephone number again and not a Nottingham 0115 7xx xxxx number, it just doesn't seem right when I'm sure they have number ranges from our area, other "new' bt/ee connections seem to have 01773 46xxxx or 47xxxx numbers mixed in with the original exchange number ranges.

FF = Full Fibre = FTTP.
The FTTP exchange could well be other than your local exchange but as you were given a Ripley no. when you were with BT there appears to be no reason why you shouldn't get it with EE as well.
EDIT: Ah, I now see FTTP isn't relevant as you are on FTTC. Your FTTC exchange is more likely to be your local phone exchange as well.

I'm assuming we will have the same as before because they're just posting out a router for self install so I guess it'll just plug into the old phone socket and then the phone in the back of the router like last time. It's not the fastest of speeds we can get as there were only a choice of two packages with top one 50-60mbps download and 9-10 up same on BT website too.
The last time we had the BT with DV the order details showed 01773 as the allocated number which is why it's very strange the order details for this new order show it as being (0115) 7xx xxxx 🤷

Update
Today the broadband service and landline went live. All seems ok apart from having the wrong number! Called through to get it changed and it apoears that no one knows why it's happened in the first place but they have requested a new number for our area code but it will be the same last 6 digits of the current 0115 7xx xxxx number I've been given and they are just changing the 0115-7 part to 01773 xxxxxx. This again seems strange as the number allocated seems to originate from the cable&wireless/vodafone number range 🤷 not from the BT/EE pool of numbers. Will see what happens anyway but I wasn't offered a choice of two or three numbers to pick f r om as told by the guide I spoke to the other day. Also a simple change of number is down to be done on 3rd Jan 😮 so it takes 2 weeks to renumber the line!!! I thought they'd say within a couple of hours or on Monday - not 2 weeks!!
