Landline doesn’t work after switching to digital service

AMayes

Please help. I am losing the will to live. Was sent a new router to plug my phone into because of the switch to DV. It never did really work again and I spent hours on the phone with BT (at that time). Got it working a bit but not as good as before but then I wanted to save money and was switched to EE Broadband. Now my landline isn’t working AGAIN and I’ve lost the will to try and sort it out again. I just want to cancel it off my Bill. (I think it’s £3 a month). How do I do this?  Will they let me as I’ve just started a new contract?  Still in the cooling off period at the moment though. BT were always so easy to contact I’m beginning to regret the switch already. Thank you.

Hi there @AMayes

Thanks for coming back to us with an update.

The team should be able to add you as a third party to discuss the account, if this can be added, you won't have full account holder access this would remain in your husband's name. I would suggest your husband calling us again and asking to add this.

If you would like to transfer the account to your name, this would need an account transfer completed, the team will discuss all options with you both 🙂

Leanne.

Morning @AMayes

I'm really sorry the landline is not working for you.

If you can give us another call when you get the chance as @XRaySpeX has advised. Our broadband guides are the best people to help you with the Digital Voice not working and look into cancelling this for you.

Let us know how you get on.

Leanne.

Thank you. It was easy to get through but they want to speak to my husband to cancel landline as he is account holder. Shoulder all be ok though.

Thanks for the update @AMayes

Let us know how it goes once your husband has called and spoke to the team 🙂

Leanne.

Husband spoke to them and all done. He had asked though if I could be the Account holder as it’s actually me that deals with everything. It’s my email/phone number but years ago when we went with BT and I was home with children and not working it was best to have it in his name. They wouldn’t let him change it and said BT used to let either of us deal with things as long as I confirmed certain things but EE will only deal with him which is going to be annoying.  I’m wondering how many other people will not bother with a landline anymore because it’s so hard to get it to work now. I dread to think what my mother in law will do if she has this much trouble because she can’t use a mobile.
