@JJ818 Along similar lines to @XRaySpeX suggestion, if you have a need for a particular (non cordless) analogue phone upstairs, you could use the EE Digital Voice Adapter to get from your hub to where you want that phone to be. However, I found it wasn't as good range wise as DECT cordless handsets are.
If on the other hand, you genuinely need a second landline number, EE Digital Voice only supports one landline, but there are a number of options, and two that spring to mind are as follows:
1. I actually have a second landline number for business purposes - but it is nothing to do with my home network. It is a virtual geographic inbound number I pay about £7/mth for from a company called Tamar Telecommunications and is delivered onto my mobile phone (I can have calls delivered to any UK landline or mobile - it's just a few seconds on Tamar's web portal to change it). I don't take the option, but I could pay Tamar extra and run an app on my phone to allow me to use my virtual landline for outbound VoIP calls too.
2. You can get VoIP phones with built in wifi connectivity and you can then contract for your second phone number from a VoIP service provider such as Andrews & Arnold, Voipfone, and many others. You'll pay a minimum of £60 for a basic VoIP phone with wifi built in, and then your VoIP tariff on top. Often, VoIP providers will sell the kit too and that might be better for people who are not tech savvy.
