Digital phone accessing messages

I have been left a message on my home phone which is a digital line . I did not have the phone answer machine on but after several rings the EE digital answer service kicked in they left a message but i don't know how i'm able to access this message . Has this happened to anyone else and any clue as to what ive got to do to access this . Thank you
