I currently have a BT broadband and voice service. From the BT box, the voice cable is directly wired inside the BT box to the back of my Cat 5 cabling distribution panel and connected to 4 sockets, providing me with 4 live extensions to distribute around the house.
I have data points in each room and plug in an RJ45 to RJ 11 converter into which I can plug a phone or bell ringer.
I am having EE Full Fibre installed this week with an EE Smart Switch Plus router. I understand the phone connection now needs to be plugged into the router. I am intending for the router to be placed in the loft eaves next to the data distribution panel which makes any phone plugged in there useless.
I am wondering if it is possible to achieve the same setup as before. and have phones distributed around the house.
Can any body please advise.
Thank you for your help.

As an alternative to plugging a phone into the back of the router you may get (free) a DV adapter which is mains powered & into which you may plug a phone cable linked to your existing BT phone socket which is feeding your extensions. The DV adapter is intended for use away from the router & it connects by DECT to the router.

@DavidF9 Not sure how you connect the phone service to your ethernet connections at the moment, but if it is just a standard phone plug from the phone socket, all you would need to do is move it to the phone socket on the back of the router.

Hi
I have phoned EE and they are now sending me 3 DV adapters. However as I am planning to place the router in the loft eaves I am not sure whether the DECT signal will pass through several walls and down 2 floors.
So how about if I put each of the DV adapters in the loft eaves alongside the router to ensure the DECT signal works, plug in a short telephone jack to RJ-45 socket converter. Then plug an RJ45 cable from the converter into my patching system to line up with where in the house the phones are connected. Will this work?
Thanks for your help.

I cant make it work like this as I have multiple phone extensions. OpenReach hardwired from the phone connector in their to the back of 4 RJ 45 sockets to give me 4 live extensions to patch anywhere in the house. When I want to connect a phone to an RJ45 point I just use a RJ45 to phone jack converter in the local socket.
See message to XRaySpeX at 5.09pm today to see how I think I might be able to make it work.

@DavidF9 a simple phone to phone cable between the ,aster socket and phone socket will be the same as you have now. Hower also disconnecting the incoming phone line would be needed as it takes a while before they disconnect it from the exchange.
