I don't know what the difference is with digital and none digital as a careline that is plugged into a phone line is only a voice over as you can't see the person you are speaking to you can only hear the person voice and the digital voice over is the same you can't see the person face you hear the person voice that you are specking to.

Digital Voice (DV) & a traditional analogue landline are much the same except with DV you may have to plug your phone or device into somewhere else other than a phone socket, typically a Broadband router. Both are only voice services & neither transmits a view of who is calling you.
However if you have Healthcare/telecare alarms & pendants you might need to get touch with your voice provider when you are switched to DV.
