Caller ID says only "External call"

Newly transferred to EE, all working except for one thing. We have a "landline" included (digital phone), using the extra EE plug-in box into which we plug our old analogue line phone, which is our case is a DECT phone and its extensions. We can receive and make calls fine with this set-up.

However, sometimes (not all the time) the caller id on these phones tells us "External call", whereas we know these numbers are not withheld numbers (e.g. our son), have always given caller ID before (we were with Plusnet FTC and copper landline), and have their numbers correctly listed on the received calls section of the EE app. It is also not every call, some correctly give us the caller id.

Any ideas? I can't find anything in the nature of settings.

Thx in advance
