Why is my 30 day notice period actually 47 days?

I am billed on the 13th of every month.  I just spoke to EE about canceling my contract.  They told me it would remain active until November 30th.  Why?  That's 47 days after my monthly renewal.  Shouldn't it end on November 13th?  Unless I didn't hear them correctly and they said 13th but I repeated "The 30th?" back to them and they said yes.  Annoyingly, at the time I didn't think I could possibly have misheard them twice and they were actually saying the 13th.

The standard notice period for a disconnection is 30days. If you gave that notice today, your phone would be terminated on around the 29th October.

Your billing date is immaterial - you continue to be billed until your disconnection and then receive a final bill after cancellation.
