EE's traditional mobile contracts have no concept of paying off the handset. You agreed to pay the same price for the full duration of the total bundled contract. There may however be a 10% discount 3 months after the end of min. term. You may always choose to upgrade your contract to a cheaper SIM-Only contract from the last 30 days of your contract term.

Hi @Peterpan1965
You'll have several options at the end of your plan – also known as your commitment period – including moving to a SIM-only plan, upgrading or cancelling your contract.
If you do nothing, you’ll move on to a 30-day rolling plan and pay the same as you’re paying now.
After 3 months we added a 10% reduction to your monthly plan charge automatically. It will show as "Out Of Contract Discount" on your bill. Please visit our helpful View your monthly EE Mobile or EE Broadband bill page for the steps on how to view your bills and discount you're receiving.
Alternatively, you can upgrade or move onto a SIM-only plan. To do this:

Or consider a FlexPay
One plan for your airtime, another for your phone loan. The first one rolls until you stop it, the second naturally stops once repaid.

So basically it's a massive money making scam and EE have been gleefully stealing circa £50 per month off me, Peter and anyone else in this situation for potentially months on end.

@MisterNikNak If you had read the contract T&Cs you would have known what happens at the minimum term and would of done something about it, your fault lies with you because you didn’t nothing at the minimum term and take no responsibility for your own lack of knowledge for not understanding the contract or taking the time to read the information. It’s down to you to understand a contract and what it legally means to you.

Was the cost of your phone itemised separately on your bill each month? If so, then you'd be right to be upset that the cost hasn't been removed.
I rather suspect it wasn't, and you've ignored the texts sent to the phone at the end of the minimum-term and just continued on regardless. Now you've discovered, you're upset with yourself but have chosen to blame EE instead.
You can change to a SIM-only plan from now onwards, but will have to take the hit on the time until now, and learn a lesson for the future.
